Gaming Platforms

Image
There are four main types of gaming platforms, these are consoles, arcade machines, PC and mobile devices. Each of these platforms have different limitations and features and this is what i am going to be looking at in this blog. Arcade machines are those big boxes that were much more popular back in the 20th century but are still popular in Arcades these days. An arcade machine is one singular machine that has everything it needs to run a game all in one, the screen is very big but is still built in to the system. it has very simple controls that any user could understand. They make money by each time they are used as you have to put around 50p in every time you play a game. The limitations is that it is not a machine that can be taken somewhere it is a very big and heavy machine and could be damaged very easily. Another limitation is that they can not connect to the internet so it is either a single player game or some are multiplayer but both have to be there on the same machine.

File Extension: A file extension  is the suffix at the end of a filename that indicates what type of file it is. For example, in the filename "myreport.txt," the .TXT is the file extension. It indicates the file is a text document. Some other examples include .DOCX, which is used for Microsoft Word documents, and .PSD, which is the standard file extension for Photoshop documents. Different file extensions are for different types of file. Compression: Compression, or "data compression," is used to reduce the size of one or more files. When a file is compressed, it takes up less disk space than an uncompressed version and can be transferred to other systems more quickly. Therefore, compression is often used to save disk space and reduce the time needed to transfer files over the Internet. When compressed the file turns into a ZIP file. Zip File: Windows users will see this term a lot when looking for files on the Internet. A zip file

Game Review - The Journey Fifa 17

Image
The Journey is one of the main features in Fifa 17 and it tells the story of how a young boy called Alex Hunter and how he goes from being a young child with bags of footballing talent to being one of the best players in the English Premier League and one of the best in the world. Despite it being such a fairy tale story Alex does experience some big setbacks such as getting sent out on loan and his father leaving his mother and not seeing Alex from young. It is safe to say it is one of the best features EA sports have ever included in the Fifa franchise. What I liked about this story mode is the fact it is very realistic in what would happen to young players in football that have the potential to be one of the world greats such as Hunter getting sent out on loan to a lower league club. I also like how you can control the way in Alex Hunter acts and what he says, and what you say effects his personality. The themes that the game fits are perseverance, hope, competitiveness and

Computer Game Graphics Pixel Art - 2D Sprites: In computer graphics , a 2D sprite is an object or an element of the game the user is playing. It can be a character, a building, a rock or something else that appears on the screen. The 2D sprites that are incorporated into a game is what makes the picture of the game up. They are flat creations that is often through hand drawing or using a drawing application on a device. As you can see these sprites are very basic pixel art and flat images. however these are popular as they are considered retro and a favourite of older gamers. Pixel Art - 3D Isometric Sprites: A 3D isometric sprite is an advanced version of a 2D sprite as the 3D sprite is drawn on a flat background but is drawn in a way that it looks 3D, despite being 2D. By doing this the games sprites become more realistic to the gamer and therefore the game becomes more immersive for the player. The 3D sprite can be a character, a building, a tree or just anything i

My Gaming Machines - Then And Now - Jak Crane

The PlayStation 1: My first gaming machine was the original PlayStation console, more commonly known as the PS1. I had this as my dad had it before I was born. Despite not having the PS1 for very long, as I soon moved on to the PS2, it was the original console that set me up for my gaming life and because of this console I have only ever owned and played on a PlayStation. The PlayStation 1 was released on the 3rd of December 1994 and I was born in 2001 so it came out a while before I did. I would enjoy most things about the PS1. I liked how basic and easy it was to use, the graphics at the time I really liked and the games I also played. One thing that I didn't like about the was the fact that the remote controllers were wired so you couldn't really sit at any distance you were restricted to how far you could sit. I also did not like how that if the game did not work it would only display a black screen as you could not tell if it is taking a while to load or just wasn&#
